LEADING EDGE BROADBAND & TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONSULTING FOR THE PUBLIC SECTOR
FTTP FEASIBILITY STUDY
Sallisaw, Oklahoma
ASSIGNMENT: Uptown was hired by the Sallisaw Municipal Authority to complete a feasibility study for offering FTTP services in May 2003. Uptown completed a detailed market assessment (including primary market research), analyzed competitive offerings, defined services and architecture strategies, and completed financial modeling to evaluate economic feasibility. The study was presented to the SMA Board and the Sallisaw City Council in August 2003.
OUTCOME: SMA successfully launched their DiamondNet FTTP system in March 2005. The system has achieved 52% penetration. The accuracy of the capital budget and subscriber growth projections in the original feasibility study were confirmed by the actual results of the system after nearly 5 years in service.
